Discernment

Discernment – The ability to know with assurance whether certain behavior purported to be of God is really divine, human, or Satanic.

People who have been given the gift of discernment can often recognize the true motives of others and whether or not a person is communicating truth. They are able to distinguish messages and promptings to know whether it is truly God’s will for their life. People with this gift are often described as being insightful.

The story of Joseph in the book of Genesis tells us that Joseph was given the gift of discernment. It says, “Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders.’”
Genesis 41:39-40
